FAQ

Q:What Exactly Is An Electric Bike?

It could be any combination of electric motor and traditional muscle-powered bicycle, but it turns out that "eBike" has very specific meanings in different parts of the world, since regulations dictate when a bike becomes a moped or motorcycle -- subject to registration, insurance, and motor vehicle codes. Follow local regulations for powering a bike, and your bike with an electric motor is, as far as the law is concerned, just a bike. The difference could save you hundreds of dollars a year in fees and insurance.

Q: Why should I get an e-bike?

The reasons you need an eBike are varied, but three are very compelling. First, in densely populated urban environments, eBikes have proven to be the fastest way to get around cities, beating cars, buses, subways, and rails for most distances up to 4 or 5 miles. Second, they're efficient and cheap to run. A typical eBike gets somewhere around 2,000 MPGe on the EPA's electric vehicle fuel economy rating, about 20 times better than a Tesla and 100 times better than a typical gas-powered car. A 10-mile round-trip commute costs about 2 cents on electricity at typical prices. And finally, pedelec-style eBikes still require some exercise. You can pedal as hard or as gently as you like, but any work you do is exercise you wouldn't do in a car. And have a lot of fun doing it!

Q:Are MASTIX e-bikes loud?

No, MASTIX e-bikes are surprisingly quiet! When the rider pedals and the motor turns on to support the rider's power, only a quiet hum can be heard.

Q:Where is your company? How can I go?

Our company is a trading company. We have two factories as manufacturing partners, one in Hong Kong, the other in Germany. Our trading house is located in Bönnighein/ Hofen near Stuttgart Germany. We manufacture the frames in China. With the help of one of the best German industrial partners, one of the most renowned workshops for people with disabilities, we are also creating an opportunity for this association with passion to give people with disabilities the joy of building the MASTIX electric bike of their dreams and part of the money for this will also be provided by people with disabilities and will be part of our green future.

Q:Do you ship worldwide (logistics)?

We've learned that many crowdfunding projects face major challenges when they reach the shipping stage. We've taken all of these challenges into account and taken some steps to ensure a smooth transition from production to shipping. For example, we've partnered with one of the world's largest freight forwarders to cover the entire transportation from the factory to your doorstep.

Unfortunately, we cannot satisfy all potential backers as there are areas in the world where we cannot deliver the MASTIX bike – we regret this, but we cannot fight against local regulations etc.

Please note that your billing address must match the address on your credit card statement.

Q:Can I cancel my order/return my bike?

Yes, Satisfaction Guarantee - 30 days return policy. At any point before we send you the confirmation email that your bike starts the production process, you will receive your full refund. After the production process has started, we cannot stop the supply chain and you can simply return your bike by following our return policy step by step.

Q:What about warranty?

Aluminum frame 36 months worldwide, Motor, lithium battery, LCD, controller, lights, suspension, brakes and other parts besides brake disc, chain, tires and other parts with heavier wear – 24 months EU orders (International orders).

Q:What is the charging time and what type of charger do I use?

DC/Output: 42 V, 2 A AC/Input: 100-240 V Charging time: 6-8 hours

Q:For which riders is the Mastix bike suitable?

Are you serious? No matter who we grew up with on the BMX track and we want to pass that on to you. They are the ones who create new trends. E-bikes are mostly simple, you can jump, ride, but ours are ohhh yeah!! We want to bring individuality and character to the e-bike market. The more extreme the better for you girls and boys. MASTIX consists of a solid and strong frame and has 20-inch wheels. The riders are between 155cm and 190cm tall and the maximum weight of the load capacity is 150kg.

Q:Why this good price?

We don't skimp on branded components or quality - we have the best brands on board. Thanks to our know-how and having found the best distribution channels and purchasing options, we can say that our bike is just as high quality as the global players. However, the difference is that we don't want to enrich ourselves at your expense, we want to give you a feeling of life and that has no price!

Q:What to do if my MASTIX is defective?

Please contact our customer service and fill out the relevant complaint form. We will help you. Our experienced technical support team can identify the problem and send you the defective part immediately, as we regularly have all spare parts in stock.

Q:How often can I charge my e-bike battery?

Our modern lithium-ion batteries (Panasonic, LG, Sanyo, Samsung) can be easily recharged without showing a drop in voltage when partially discharged. They can be charged at any time without any problems. Even premature termination of the charging process does not harm them. The batteries have up to 500 charging cycles.

Q:How much does mastic weigh?

Our bikes weigh around 25 kg. We managed to save weight in our design, as other e-bike systems, e.g. a standard e-bike in the same category, weigh significantly more and are nowhere near as fast and agile as a MASTIX.

Other fat bikes, cafe racers and cruiser pedelecs usually have a larger drive and generally require more space and therefore weight. In addition, there are legal features such as mirrors or their massive handlebars and frame covers and much more that we don't have here.

Q:Can you dive uphill without pedal assistance using only the thumb throttle?

Our bikes are all equipped with a thumb throttle. This means that if you are tired and want to rest, it is possible to ride and cycle using only the thub throttle. Please make sure that this is only allowed within the regulations of your country. According to European law, it is allowed to attach the thumb throttle to the bike, but not to use it.

Q:Find new motivation to drive more

Much like writing an essay or story, sometimes the hardest part of riding is getting started. If you're not sure you have the energy to keep pedaling, knowing that you can rely on electric assistance to finish the ride if needed is enough reassurance to get you off the couch and out the front door. And once you get moving, you'll likely be energized by the feel of the wind in your face, the torque of your electric motor, the passing scenery, and the hum of the tires beneath you. Before you know it, you'll be saying to yourself, "I can't believe I almost didn't go for a ride! What was I thinking?"

Q:How fast can an e-bike go?

Even if e-bikes have an electric motor, they are still bicycles – not scooters. They require pedaling input to provide the desired level of motor assistance up to a certain speed. In Europe, an e-bike must have a motor with a maximum power of 250 W, which supports the e-bike up to a maximum speed of 25 km/h. In the USA, e-bike motors can have a maximum of 750 W and support up to 32 km/h. Riding downhill on an E-MTB means the motor doesn't add any assistance, so you won't be going any faster than you would on a regular bike.
The e-bike with its Bafang motor 250W (EU) accelerates you up to a speed of 25 km/h. This is for legal reasons, as e-bikes with motors that support speeds up to 25 km/h are classified as mopeds. The pedal support then stops and higher speeds have to be achieved using your own muscle power. At least on flat stretches, the average speed increases only minimally. Thanks to the support, you are clear on the move on inclines and wind. But no matter the road conditions, a more relaxed ride is guaranteed. According to §1 paragraph 3 StVG, a pedelec that only reaches the 25 km/h limit with your pedal assistance and has a maximum motor power of 250 watts is considered a bicycle under traffic law and can therefore also be used on cycle paths.

Q: Can you still move on an e-bike?

Sure! It's up to you how much exercise you get on an e-bike. There are several ways to challenge yourself physically if you want. You can use your e-bike without assistance or in eco mode and still feel your legs burning. You can do multiple laps on the same ride. An e-bike allows you to go further and longer. On your e-bike, the speed/fun factor will encourage you to keep going. If you hadn't ridden an e-bike or regular bike before, what else would you be doing?

Q:Do I have to pay shipping fees or customs duties?

We've worked hard to bring you sight unseen prices for such a high quality product. We've done this without compromising the slightest component. We want to give our early backers the best reward possible, so we're starting this campaign with the lowest prices possible and increasing prices every week until we reach the planned Indiegogo prices, which are still well below the suggested retail price.

Please note that the prices shown on this website are exclusive of customs, shipping and applicable local taxes. Once you have decided on the bike you want and the campaign is successfully completed, we will send a survey to confirm your shipping address, color choice and any other details required to build a bike for you.

Q: For what purpose (terrain) is the Mastix Bike best suited?

To find out which e-bike is right for you, ask yourself the following questions:

  • Are you looking for a bike for the city or for touring?
  • Do you want to practice full sporting activities on your bike?
  • Do you want to cycle short or long distances?
  • Do you mainly ride on asphalt or do you also like gravel and forest paths?
  • How much can your e-bike cost?

All answers are MASTIX Bike!

Thanks to its robust construction and strong tires, the bike is extremely resilient, meaning you can take on any terrain with the MASTIX. We rely on a slim and sleek design that offers the rider maximum riding comfort and, above all, remains agile and sharp in its movements. We are not a mountain bike, we are not a bulky trendy bike with a non-adjustable saddle bar or a folding bike - we are MASTIX - a designer bike - JUST YEAAHHH!!! Whether it's a pothole or a gravel road. The Air Shock suspension fork shows you every deep hollow and you can even handle stunts with it. And the price speaks for itself when you look at the others.

Q:How much does shipping cost?

We do not charge shipping fee; Shipping will be decided depending on your destination. Mainly shipping fee is included in the selling price. If not, it is an exception and will be mentioned and charged/added separately to the selling price at checkout.

Q:Why MASTIX hub motor?

A mid-drive motor is located in the middle of the bike between the pedals at the bottom bracket of the bike and is designed to drive the cranks or pedals and transmit the motor power to the rear wheel via the chain drive and requires frequent maintenance or regular service check. Not the MASTIX hub motors which are known for high power, torque and longer durability compared to mid-drive motors. Our Bafang hub drive motor is maintenance free.

Q: How do I charge my e-bike battery correctly?

E-bike batteries can be charged using a conventional socket (US/EU). An adapter is recommended for trips abroad. Charging in restaurants is usually not a problem for consumption and is free of charge. If there is no special charging station, it is advisable to ask the operator whether and where the battery can be charged.

Mastix batteries can be charged in two ways. Directly via the Mastix charging port (charging socket) or by removing the battery from the e-bike. If the battery is charged via the charging socket, the charge level automatically appears on the display. You can find further important information on charging batteries in our data sheets and the operating instructions.

Q:Some colors seem different from your social media images compared to the images of the bike in your campaign?

It is clear that we have developed prototypes and tested all kinds of parts
and components, as well as different types of color combinations. Because of this, the bikes can have different color options. For example, the colors of each individual part can have a different tone and color intensity. Not all parts have the same tone, e.g. the gold handlebar is sprayed gold and the pedals are gold anodized, so a different shade of gold, as is the bottle in chrome gold. The gold tube of the front suspension fork is only available for the Special Edition Rainbow/ Oil Slick, Gold and Black/ White or must be purchased separately for an additional $100. The basic tube of the suspension is black.
